Fumihiko Yasuda reportedly revealed plans to revive the two dormant franchises at a panel at the G-Star Conference earlier this week, as reported by the Korean website Ruliweb. At the conclusion of his talk, he reportedly showed a slide containing photos from both Team Ninja series alongside the Japanese headline “The future of Team Ninja – Reboot of popular series.” Not much else is known at this time, but from the sounds of things, development on these projects is just getting started. Dead or Alive 6 was released in 2019 as the final instalment in the series. Considering that Ninja Gaiden 3 was released in 2012, fans have had to wait a long time for the next instalment in the Ninja Gaiden series. Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty and Rise of the Rnin, both developed by Team Ninja, are expected to be released in 2023 and 2024, respectively. So it seems like Team Ninja will have their hands full for the next few years. The Dead or Alive 6 development cycle kicked started in December of 2017 and the game was launched worldwide in March of 2019. So long as Team Ninja hasn’t started working on anything new, we may not see this Dead or Alive reboot until 2024 at the earliest. Dead or Alive was a series that was absolutely adored by the fans worldwide due to easier gameplay mechanics. It argues convincingly for the series’ core combat by clarifying what sets it apart from other fighters beyond its trademark “jiggle physics.” While the story campaign doesn’t flow very well, the other training modes do a good job of preparing players for online battle. Very little is known about the announcement at this time, so we will keep you updated as we learn more.
